The summer really flew by and it is hard to believe it is over. Today was the first day of school for my sweet girl. She is in 2nd grade and I cannot believe it! It seems like yesterday she was a little bundle that fit in my arms. Next week we will have a kindergartener and a preschooler, two days a week for a couple of hours we will have 3 kids out of the house. It is almost too much for me to handle!
And, speaking of bundles - here is a rare moment nowadays - this little guy is pushing two years old and the last thing he wants to do is cuddle. So, when he fell asleep in the car today, I took advantage of the situation and snuggled with him for 10 minutes - it.was.heaven!! So, when I think of what today was for me - the oldest heading out to school and my baby giving me one of the last snuggles I will probably get from him - I got a little emotional. I don't want to forget how I felt today and I plan on cherishing every moment with these kiddos.

Those are precious moments.
I am an empty nester now. I live on a farm in northern Utah. There is a huge tree across the road with a low, sprawling trunk. My children used to play there. Last Mother's Day weekend I heard voices outside. There were some neighborhood children playing in that tree and I got emotional because my children weren't little and playing there anymore. That's what Mom's do. : ) Enjoy it while you can!
Enjoy every moment you can. I never liked the start of school. I always loved having my girls home. I must admit, I've been a little emotional myself these days missing them. The empty nest is NOT good.
Instead of lamenting the past, try to enjoy each milestone as you reach it. My kids are now grown with little ones of their own and I wish I had enjoyed each moment as it came instead of always wishing I could stop time.
They do grow up fast, I just don't know where the time goes. Your daughter is darling, and your son is adorable too!
Enjoy them when they are little. When given the chance to go to the park or do the household chores, choose the park. The chores will still be there. My youngest just got married, wasn't it yesterday that I just had the oldest????? Wow where did the time go.......they will be driving before you know it.
I know how you feel! Today is the first day for my 3rd grader (I feel old when I say that!) and my first grader. this is the first year they will both be gone ALL. DAY. What's a girl to do? Oh yeah, the baby is still home and without my baby sitters I doubt I'll get much accomplished. I love to rock him to sleep because it's the only times he will cuddle. Gotta get those cuddles in while we can!
Precious. We need to hold tight to those moments as the time goes much too quickly.
Our oldest, our son, had a long school bus ride for a 4 yr old. I waited on our driveway close to the house, waiting for him to jump off and run on those long gangly legs into my arms -- but no one got off the bus. Then the driver stepped off the bus with my sleeping little boy in her arms. And yes, I too took that opportunity to snuggle him into my neck on that walk back to the house and I too have cherished that moment. Our son is now 34 yrs old. xoxoxoxoxo
She is gorgeous, and boy the apple sure didn't fall far from your tree!! Make the very most of these times -- they fly by like the wind!
With a 20 year old and 17 year old I can tell you to cherish these moments. Cuddle as much as you can, even if it is as you posted: sneaking it in!!!! :)
I feel your pain :) My youngest is just a little younger than yours and gone are the days of cuddling. I think the last time he fell asleep in my arms was shortly after he turned one. I would have definitely done the same things as you!
Big milestones!... I remember when both my kids were in school all day, it was so huge! Now they are both off in college. Thank goodness for skype!
By the way, congrats on your article in Machine Quilting Unlimited magazine. It is great - hopefully a preview of what's to come in your new book. Don't know how you do it all, but I'm glad to see you take time for a cuddle.
