Blog Hop and a giveaway!!

****Giveaway Closed****

1

This is a tale of two scissors. I was asked by dear sweet Kelly to participate in a blog hop and when I found out it was for Famore Cutlery - I was all in. I had the choice of what scissors I wanted to review and what else would I choose? Well, of course curved quilting scissors. The deal is, I have been using my curved scissors from my manicure set. It wasn't until I tried the Famore 4" curved scissors that I realized I haven't had a good pair of scissors. I was dealing with thread shredding and I could not get as close to the thread start and stop point. What did I expect? I was using the same scissors to cut my baby's fingernails.

2

The curved shape is ideal for cutting super close. These little babies are sharp - no thread shredding here. They cut through thread like butter and I have had so much fun having a real pair of scissors to use.

3

Another look at the thread/scissor closeness. What I love about the curved scissor is how I don't have to worry about poking into my quilts - that's a big deal for me.

4

The points are nice on these scissors as well because I can take out stitches when I make a mistake. All in all - I love these scissors. No complaints here and they are only $12.00 - so inexpensive for an awesome pair of scissors that are perfect for the quilter!

I have one more pair of these lovely little scissors to give away - you will love them! All you have to do is leave a comment telling why you need them more than anyone else and you are entered into my little giveaway!

Don't forget to check out these other blogs this week for more fabulous reviews and giveaways!

Monday - Patsy Thompson Designs

Tuesday - me

Wednesday - IHaveANotion

Thursday - Happy Cottage Quilter

First off I need to say, Wow!! to the machine quilting in the sashing! I was so amazed by it I kept looking at the quilting in all the pictures and then I went back and read about those amazing scissors and looked at them in the pics. I need these scissors because I currently use the baby nail scissors I received as a gift 26 years ago when my elder son was born.

What a wonderful tool! Thanks for the chance at a giveaway

I just failed to comply with one of the cardinal rules of quilting....... CHECK YOUR TENSION UNDER THE QUILT. I just spent two days ripping out the quilting on an entire quilt because of the random areas of poor stitch quality. Stupid stupid stupid. Will NOT make that mistake again. Having a sharp pair of scissors that hasn't been used by a child to cut through wire (argh), would be wonderful!! New scissors are such a fabulous indulgance we don't invest in often enough.

After the trouble I've had snipping threads, these look like a great solutions (why didn't I think of using curved scissors!)

Rachel said...

I have also been known to use manicure scissors to snip threads...or my seam ripper... or haircutting scissors... or my teeth! For the sake of my teeth, I need these little scissors ;)

Famore little scissors show a necessary use for sewers & quilters.

I would love to win the scissors. Thanks for the chance

My notion dept is dismal. I only have one pair of orange handled scissors that I have to use in the garden, too. If I won these scissors, they would not go near the garden and my sewing would come out so much better.

Those scissors look great but as usual I am mesmerized by your amazing quilting!

I've never used curved scissors, but I did snip one of my own quilts on my longarm the other day using the cruddy scissors I have. :( Thanks for telling us all about these babies!

I'm almost as obsessed about sewing scissors as I am about fabric!! lol Those look nifty!

Barb and Sharon said...

Curved scissors! Wow what a concept. All my scissors are straight. They would help with cutting threads without snipping the fabric. I loved the stitching on your quilt. It looks beautiful!

jaj said...

I need these scissors more than anyone else because I'm a new quilter AND a perfectionist. You can imagine the anguish that combination can cause. Great tools will help, for sure!

Sharp scissors for embroidery are essential!

They look fab, so many small scissors are pretty much worse than useless....love the sound of these and thanks for the chance to enter :)

Jeanne Gwin said...

I want these scissors because, once again, all my sharp nipping scissors have disappeared from my sewing studio. I have to devise a way to chain them down yet be able to use them. Honestly, Steve borrows my scissors and ruins them.

Mia's Cottage said...

Hopefully, I'm not too late... I love my curved scissors...actually, I LOVE all my scissors! I especially love the small designer ones that gingher puts out. Every month they have a different design and give it a cute little name. I think I own 4 pairs and LOVE every one. That doesn't include the 3 other pairs of just cute scissors I picked up in different fabric stores!

I am loving this blog hop! You all did such a fabulous job at showcasing your products!!! These scissors look awesome! I have recently started quilting again and am in dire need of some GREAT tools :)

I've never had curved scissors in my sewing room before.

It isn't about needing right, it's about wanting. These look like great ones to take on a car trip.

QuiltinGram said...

I need these scissors because they sound perfect for all my quilting, cross-stitch and knitting needs. I would like to have a pair with every project so that I am not hunting for a pair constantly but pension budget just does not allow for that.

Jenniffier said...

I need them because I just threw away two pairs of curved scissors because they were so dull they wouldn't even cut a thread... They just kept slipping past the thread do no damage at all so I angrily tossed them in the trash can.

Barb N said...

Wow - there are 241 comments before mine. Why should I deserve them more than all these other folks? Maybe because I am thread-cutting challenged - I have a bit of a problem with double vision and sometimes getting those threads clipped right at the fabric is a wee bit tricky for me. Sounds like these scissors may be just the ticket!
