Attempt at fashion..... HA HA!!

Okay - so confessions here - I quilt in my sweats - I have, now let me count.....................oh I think about 20 different sweat pants - Clint hates them, but I happen to love being comfortable - but mostly because my jeans at this point aren't comfortable. So, last night on a whim I decided to go and spend my spoils for some new clothes, and hopefully make myself a little more attractive to the guy working behind me. I went to Maurice's and the girl was awesome! I told her I knew nothing about clothes because I am a t-shirt and sweats kind of a girl and she threw several outfits together for me. This is one of them and I happen to like it - my jeans are comfortable - because they fit and the top with the sweater is nice. I felt so much better going out today! Anyway - long story short - Clint told me my shoes don't match - What? Are you the fashion guru? Don't you know I do this to please you - not me, because I would rather be quilting in my sweats.

So - what do you think? I like these shoes - first time I didn't wear running shoes or flip flops out - don't they match my outfit? Help me - I need validation!! Please?? ;)

Okay - so another part I have to confess about myself is that I don't know what my natural hair color is - I was blond growing up and I am going to be going back to those roots - well - I will have roots, but I will keep you updated - if you even care!

Well - thanks for listening! Phew - it felt great to get that all out!

Oh - and I don't want Clint to look bad - he did like my outfit - he just doesn't like my shoes - but I usually just hear the negative - I don't know why...........

I think your shoes are super cute. I recently had an event to attend, and slipped on some high heels.. well I certainly need to find some new shoes.. that are NOT high heels. I have worn no shoes, flip flops or slip on sneakers for far too long. High heels are PAINFUL.. and by the end of the evening I think that anyone watching me walk was secretly giggling behind me.. thinking wow she walks really funny! Lesson learned.. atleast until next time LOL.

I think that shoes are cute and look good with the outfit. Though I have no fashion sense either. I never wore sweats until I met my husband. I don't know how I ever lived before them. But I also think shoes should be bold and stand out so what do I know. As long as you are happy with it that is all that matters. (At least you are not wearing sweats, birks, tie dyed shirt, and plaid flannel like my husband...oh my).

I happen to LOVE your shoes and think they totally match! I even asked my sister and she agreed (she has more fashion sense than me...by a lot). Looking good!

love your shoes! great outfit too

Oh! Cute shoes!!! They don't have to match. I remember reading somewhere that when her art teacher asked her what makes these colors go together Anna Marie Horner said "I do." I try to live by those wise words now.

"What Not to Wear" says to not match your clothes to your shoes. :) I think your outfit looks great! The shoes are darling!

Barb said...

On "What not to Wear" you shoes are not suppose to match your outfit....so you did good...I love your shoes. I am a matchy kind of person but I love the ideal of shoes being differnt than the outfit.

You look Great.

I like your shoes. Im pretty sure I even have a pair just like them. Flats are my favorite.

I think you look great and the shoes are super cute. If I am at home working, I stay in my pjs all day. Sometimes I get cold and put my robe on over my clothes. My family says I look like a homeless person.

You look absolutely gorgeous in sweats or sweaters. I'm a stay at home mommy and the only time I get dressed up is when my hubby takes me out. *hint, hint*

I think comfort should be number one when you are quilting!! and your shoes are cute!!!! :)

your shoes are cute!

Rather like Barbra Streisand's nose, I think you shouldn't change anything about what you quilt in - just in case it changes your quilting! And the shoes are adorable. I love grey with denim!

I like your outfit and those shoes are way too cute!

The sweater and shirt are fabulous, the jeans actually look pretty comfortable...for jeans. The shoes are too cute for words. But honestly, you'd be as cute as a bug's ear in whatever you put on!

Are you going to show off that gorgeous piece of quilting that's on your machine? I love the colors!

Your shoes are cute! Trust me, I have a 21 year old daughter, and I can see her wearing those! Thanks for a pic of you....you are so young! I just assumed from your quilting that you were older with lots and lots of experience. I just love your quilting!

Cutie pie shoes and your new outfit looks modern but casual.
I too like to be comfy while quilting, I like wear my slippers, but I have moved my quilting business into a quilt shop...so I will have to take a bit more care with my dress!Us quilters can live private life's, it's easy to just put what ever on!
anyway it is what is on the inside of person that really counts.

The shoe are cute. the fun thing about shoes is they don't have to "match"... The cuter the better! The outfit rocks too

Marge said...

I'm sure Clint knows he has a "Keeper". He just has to tease you about something and it just happens to be shoes. What do men know about shoes?

Oh Judy this made me laugh cos I am so like you... I cannot put clothes together if I tried...I am not a fashion model I tell my hubby and hate buying clothes love fabric though... BUT on another note you look fab and those shoes are too cute... and go well. Are you comfortable???.. well thats what matters.....

Judi, you look great - shoes and all!

I live with a fashion cop and those shoes are great. I'm not sure that men really get it when it comes to shoes. You look great.

You look great! Shoes and all, they are not only cute, the DO go with the outfit. I hope Clint appreciates all this! You are certainly very thoughtful. And don't forget that sometimes in sweats is good too! (as long as you are comfy!! very important!) :-)

Caro said...

Love your shoes. Tell Clint that grey is the new neutral and they go with anything. Tell the fashion policeman that your readers like your shoes.

Mama Spark said...

OK, tell Clint that most guys that have a hot wife wouldn't worry about what she was wearing! You do look adorable in your new duds though. I know what you mean about hair color. I am letting mine go gray, and it is not always easy to resist the urge to make it blonder!!

Jen said...

OMG, that's my quilt on your machine!!!! Gaaa! I'm psyched to see what you do with it. I love what you did with the light blue border already. Can't wait to see the rest.

Back to the original topic, I think you look cute. I love the new outfit and I really love the new shoes. So cute.

I think the outfit is super cute and so are the shoes! I would love a pair of shoes like that...they look so comfortable, I just haven't been able to find any that I think looks good on my feet!

Diane N said...

oh...and I always seem to only hear the negative too! Someone could say a ton of positive and it's always that one negative comment that I hold onto! I really need to let go of that!

Dot said...

First of all, congratulations on taking some time and money to spend on yourself! Many, many of us fail to do that, and we send the wrong message to everyone. I believe you got absolutely the right advice on everything--EVEN THE SHOES!

Great clothes, great shoes, great hair--great gal. Keep up the good work, all the way around. Your husband is lucky to have such a treasure!

You are too cute :). My favorite??? The highlights! They look fabulous!!

You look great; and you get kudos for honoring your husband by thinking of him in your dressing up... leaving the sweats behind... even if not every day?! Just keep hearing the positive... and the shoes... are very cute!

sweetypie said...

I love the shoes- definately.

Judi, trust us, your blog readers won't steer you wrong---you look really, really nice. Shoes too! They are just right for your outfit. Looks like Clint is outvoted on this topic. Guys often want to match everything they wear, and think others should too. I think it's a guy thing. Don't worry about your dressing up, you're doing great!

It was neat seeing your quilt, esp,. in your new shoes.

From someone who would wear crocs ALL the time if I could, the shoes are keepers. They totally go. His fashion advisor days are numbered but maybe keep him for other talents. ha ha

We hear the negative because we are females.

Tell Clint at least your shoes are *not* flip flops or running shoes, so can't he try to "overlook" them while you're "learning".

Personally *I* am proud of you for trying!
Yay Judi! Four kids and (how many?) years of marriage, and you're *still* thinking about pleasing your man! Way to go, Girl!

Your priorities are fine, so don't worry so much about your shoes.
Tell Clint to go with you to buy your next pair, and while he's at it, he should take you out to supper too, WITHOUT the kids! You need a Date Night. BOTH of you!

Just tryin' to help.
... but i'm not a lot of help with the matching shoes thing; i have a problem with that too, so all of my shoes are black. That way i don't have to worry about it.
=-)

I don't know about the shoes... they'd probably match your sweats better! Just kidding! Super cute, Judi!

I get the work in your sweats thing. Your outfit is adorable (as are you) and you need to educate hubby that gray is neutral and goes with everything. Love the shoes and LOVE your quilting. How long have you been using a long arm and what brand do you use and would you change to a different one if you had the chance today? Sorry so many questions. sissy
