Late Night Snack!

Yummy! I saw these Oreo's at Wal Mart and I couldn't help myself. They are so good! My husband has bet me that they will be gone by Saturday night. He's probably right. I have to keep the mouth chomping while I am piecing late at night. Love that Soiree fabric! Can't wait to show you my new pattern when it's finished. I am having a giveaway starting Monday so be sure to check back. Goodnight!

Time for a Tutorial: Bow-Tie Style.

Choose two colors for your bow tie quilt block. One square of each color will make two finished blocks. We are going to make a 4 1/2 inch bow tie block.

Step 1: Cut out a 5 1/2 inch square of each color.
Step 2: Draw an X from corner to corner on the wrong side of one color of the squares.

Step 3: Place the green and pink 5 1/2 inch squares right sides
together and sew a 1/4 inch seam along both sides of one line.
Step 4: Press the seams! This is very important, don't forget to press.

Step 5: Cut along both lines.

You will get four sections.
Step 6: Press seams to pink side of fabric.

They will look like this.

Step 7: Match up seam allowances and pin sections right sides together.

Step 8: Sew along edge using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. (I don't recommend sewing over the needles like shown, but you know your own machine! Sew across them at your own risk:)

Step 9: Open up the seam intersection and press seams to green fabric.
Click here for my flat seams tutorial.

Use some starch, it's great because it flattens the block and makes it easier for trimming.

Step 10: Use your ruler and match up the diagonal line to the 45 degree
angle, then trim the block to 4 1/2 inches.

Here you go! A fun and easy way to make the bow tie block. Was this helpful? I hope so.

We have added a new project page on our website. Check it out here.

Have a simply marvelous day.

I've been quilting like crazy!

This is a customer quilt that I finished over the weekend and I think it turned out nice.
I have the custom quilts lining up and it's fun because I get to make each quilt different.

I had forgotten how fun straight lines are, but they really are time consuming since there is so much stopping and starting.

I love the end product and it was a joy to work on. Terri at Scrap Apple Quilts put it together and she is an awesome piecer! The quilt was so straight and every Long-Arm quilter knows how important that is.

Make sure to check out this weeks "Deal of the Week!!"

Have a wonderful week!

Randomness is the best!

So, even though I have a smile on my face I feel like my head is going to explode most of the time. There are so many things that I want to do, but all those things have to be put aside and wait until the things that I get to do and have to do get done! Does that make sense?

I get to machine quilt for other people and I love it. I have the swirls down, but I am scared of feathers. Any hints on that part? I know I know, practice Judi, just practice!

I have feet thankfully and I get to use them each day to chase my little kids around the house.
Can you see the butterflies on my big toes? My husband gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure, I think I am hooked!

Peek a Boo! Here's a "Get to!" I get to take care of this sweet baby boy!

I get to enjoy older quilts, the ones where you put them together without a sewing machine. I am thankful for these quilts, but even more grateful for my sewing machine and my long-arm.

I get to enjoy beautiful flowers. I love the hyacinth, it is by far my favorite flower. The smell alone makes me so happy.

I get to put together wonderful fabrics into fat quarter bundles.

I have to ship off your orders from my website. I don't mind, but the postman might because he has to pick them up at my house each day.

In the end I am happy and grateful for all the things that I have to do and get to do. I am hoping that one day I will get to all the "want tos". The list keeps getting bigger!

New page on our site. . . .

Well as you know, we finished our quilt show and had a great time. All Saturday evening, I was nice enough to let my husband start unpacking everything and begin going through our inventory. He's good at stuff like that. When I saw him working hard enough, I'd even share my Easter chocolate with him. I'm sure he appreciated it. Anyway, when he had everything situated again, he decided he wanted to add a "Clearance" page to our website, for some of the items we have. There are two of my designs that we made too many quilt kits for, a few bolts of fabric that I'd like to discount, and a handful of projects bundled up ready to go. We have put all these items on our new page, and priced them to sell!! So if you'd like, dance on over to our new page and see if anything matches your taste! "Check it out here."

Also, we have a new Deal of the Week, where we have slashed the prices on our patriotic line of fabric. All for only $4.95 a yard. You can see those "here."

Thanks everybody! Have a great week.

What a fun Show!

Here's my booth at the Dixie Quilt Guild Show, my mom came down from Salt Lake to help out with the booth. Here she is hiding behind my patterns. I couldn't get her to come out for a picture. I love my Mom and she was so fun to have around.

Here I am in my booth. This was a great show and I got to meet a lot of fun people. It was nice that the show was here in St. George and I could go home at night. I am beat, two days standing for eight hours, more than that on Friday, was so tiring. I say that because I am falling asleep as I am typing this. I just didn't want you all to think that I had dropped off the face of the earth. I have just been busy with the quilt show and having a great time with my family and my Mom.

Happy Easter! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Don't you just love..........

the pile of fabric that bunches up at the back of your sewing machine when you strip piece?

You do have a 1/4 inch presser foot right? If you don't, get one. Your piecing will be a lot easier.

I love swirls, better yet, swirls with flowers.

I think I am addicted to stippling and small quilting. Anything that takes a long time and makes my back hurt. In the end it's worth all the work because it looks amazing.

Check out the back of the quilt. It's almost more fun, almost.

This can't be safe right? What am I going to do? My little guy is a climber and now I can't even put him down for a nap for fear he will find something to climb on. Say goodbye to the changing table in his room. What a kid.
