This quilt is a special quilt for my sister's in-laws - they just don't know it yet - it is a surprise for their wedding anniversary coming up this month. This quilt was a combined effort between me and my mom. The pattern is "Quilted Memories" designed by me. However, we decided to make the pictures a little bit larger in this quilt to really show off the family photos. Don't you think my mom did a beautiful job? She pieced the top and it looks amazing. Her ability to place colors and fabrics together and make them work together has always amazed me. Way to go mom!
This was a more simple quilting job for me. I used my mom's quilting machine while I was up in Salt Lake visiting family.
I used a silver Magnifico thread that I think worked great with the grey, purple, cream and black colors in the quilt.
I had a lot of fun with the quilting. It really was just whimsical with a little stitch in the ditch and free motion quilting.
I love double connecting curves.
The thread just looks so great!
My favorite part of this quilt was the borders. Feathers are so fun to quilt up. I have not quilted feathers in quite a while, so it was a great change up in my quilting.
We used a Minky back and I think it turned out beautiful.
I sure hope they like this quilt.
Fun contrast.
So, that's it. A beautiful quilt that will hopefully be cherished for a long time to come.

Stunning as always Judi!!!!
Love this. Both you and your Mom did an amazing job. I love these colors and all the different patterns between the pictures, and then your quilting. I never get tired of admiring it!
I love metallics. I'll have to order some. Love this. What a great gift!
Wow, that is stunning!
Gorgeous work! I am beginning to get back to the machine after a long hiatus due to health problems and I am really looking forward to it. Just had a client drop off a precious pinwheel quilt for me to dress up for her granddaughter.
Just stunning. You are just amazing Judi!!! I love that this is simple to you. Awesome!! What a treasure this will be for years and years to come!
Amazing, gorgeous, How wonderful that she will have a family treasure made by the both of you.
Everything about this quilt is wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
Gorgeous colors!
OOOH! So much to love about this one! I love how your quilting turns the ordinary checkerboard squares into something like sashiko. I love how your feathers flow across both of the outer borders rather than being confined by the piecing lines. Finally -- the MINKY!!! I have never seen Minky backing used with any kind of intricate quilting design, let alone something like this. I am amazed by how COOL that looks, as though the quilting design was etched into the pile. Did you do anything differently with this quilt because of the Minky backing? Did you still use batting, and/or did you use a lower loft or different fiber batting because of the Minky? Another gorgeous finish, Judi! :-)
Gorgeous!! Not sure I can say anything else!
