Remember this quilt?

ke13
So, do you remember this quilt?  I quilted this for Kimberly Einmo, the first of the year.  It was such a fun quilt to quilt.  I literally never got tired of the design, because every section of the quilt was different. Anyway, I took the time while I was quilting it to take a few pictures of my process.  Then, I submitted my idea for a magazine article.  Thankfully Kit liked my idea and my article was published in the Machine Quilting Unlimited July issue.

This magazine if full of great ideas and beautiful quilts.

It still is surreal seeing my name and face in print.  It is fun.  I have to tell you something funny though. My daughter Lili was reading the page about me and she got all upset because it says that I have four small children.  She's 8 and according to her, she isn't small.  She accused the magazine of lying.  So, I will be sure to update that next time, or just tell my daughter to chill out.  Anyway, it was cute that she cared enough to read it.

You can find my article on page 59.

I hope you enjoy the article!

Congratulations. That is so great! Your quilting is absolutely amazing. I remember this particular quilt because I loved it so much that I made my husband get off the couch to look at it LOL. He was amazed as well!

I got my copy the other day, it was great to see your article. Loved the way you explained everything so clearly...btw my granddaughter is almost 8 and would definitely not want to be considered a "small" child :))

I loved your article Judi. I read it word for word and marked it for reference. I am in such awe of you. All of your quilting is wonderful! Keep it coming. And I think it's funny about your eight year old. At that age it's not funny to them.

I read your article as SOON as it arrived in my mailbox. We were going out to dinner, but I told my husband he had to wait until I was finished reading every word of your article! I was thrilled to see the pictures and the read about the details! I called Kimberly Einmo immediately and she didn't answer because she was just leaving for a vacation in Aruba (my personal favorite place!)!!! But she can't wait to see the article too! She says this quilt is her all time favorite! and for some reason, I think it's because of your awesome quilting! May you both win multiple prizes for this awesome quilt!

Fantastic idea for an article! I've never seen Machine Quilter magazine before, but now I need to hunt it down!

Your daughter's reaction to being referred to as your "small child" is actually cute. It reminds me of when my son was younger, maybe 7 or so, and had a birthday coming up. I told him, "Soon you won't be my little seven-year-old anymore" and he started BAWLING. It completely caught me off guard! I had to reassure him that being my little 8-year-old would be just as good and would still include all the snuggling, story-reading, and owie-smooching he had enjoyed as a 7-year-old. :-)

HI Judi, Great timing on reading this post. I had bought the magazine because of LuAnn's article, I follow her blog, and hadn't made the connection to you. I am only part way through this magazine, but already it is clear that I need a subscription. One of my goals this year is to improve my free hand machine quilting and viewing examples is most helpful. Am working on a wall hanging my son designed and it's looking great. At first all I did was stitch in the ditch along the shapes and thought it would be enough, but no, it needed much more. Then it sat for 4 years waiting for my skill and courage to catch up. This post shows my start. http://www.heatherpearson.com/2013/07/needlework-tuesday-stitch-too-far.html I am so encouraged by viewing yours and several other quilters works.
