This is one of my first finished quilts! Pretty sure it was an Eleanor Burns pattern. |
Um, he's adorable!! The baby too... |
My kids get pushed out of the way by parents and bigger kids that are anxiously waiting for candy hand outs. So, this year, as the crowds were pushing in - you can't see them in this picture - I told the kids to claim their territory and this is what they came up with. It's really amazing that we come out for the parade every year and wake up early to get a good spot just to have people come in later and take over the space. This is why I don't do crowds. I wish I would have gotten a picture of how it was during the parade, but I was too busy grumbling under my breath. Don't get me wrong, the kids have fun and this is why we go, but if I had my choice, I wouldn't go. What's wrong with me anyway? Everyone likes these events right?
The child does smile, but I am more worried about the picture of me...you are the same - admit it! |
So, I thought it might be a good time to share my new hair with you. I figure I change my hair every time I have a baby, (that's not an announcement) but since my book deal went south I changed my hair immediately, it was just the change I needed to get my mind off of things. I also went to ULTA and got a whole bunch of facial cleansers and new makeup - apparently washing your face with hand soap is not a good idea, uh - who knew? So, I am allowing more time to take care of myself and I have felt a lot better about myself. Happy wife means happy life!
I never have been a shoe girl, but my sister has convinced me of the importance of a good pair of heels. So, this mama is rockin' in her new heels and boy, it's going to take some getting used to.
I am getting some quilting done, I will share when I can. I also have a giveaway going on over at Amy's and our shop has all our new releases on sale at 25% off until Monday, go check it out!
I hope you are all having a fabulous summer! Have a great weekend everyone!

I agree with you about the crowds. Some people are just "so" important, in their own minds, they never thing of anyone or anything else. I'm glad you go for the kids.
We tried a new twist this year and actually brought about four extra chairs to the parade. It gave others a place to sit and no one crowded into our space. Worked great!
Your hair is super cute. I am with you on the parade thing. When my kids were little I used to take a bag of starbursts or something similar to smooth the hurt feelings when big kids would snatch things away from them. I went to a parade this summer where I overheard a retired couple complaining about candy being thrown only to kids. Umm, hello? Its for KIDS. There was more than a litttle humbling under my breath too.
Your hair is gorgeous! And those shoes look amazing.....but painful! lol I haven't worn heels in years! I'm with you on the crowds thing, too, and once the kids were passed the parade stage, it turned into 'air-show' stage, so we seemed to always be in the crowds! :o(
I'm not a big fan of crowds either. I remember driving to the beach in San Diego at 9am on July 4th one year and the freeway signs were warning against going as there was no available parking - Hello - San Diego is all coastline! Love the photo of your kids staking their claim - too cute!
I am with you on the crowd thing...people are just rude sometimes!
Love the shoes! I keep eyeing up a pair of Louboutin..with the red soles!! Someday maybe!!
My husband hates parades and we never go to fireworks. Does that make us unAmerican :) ?
I'd rather not push and shove people when I can just go to the store and buy a bag of candy my kids won't eat anyways. I have weird kids who don't eat their Halloween candy :)
what in the world would you want to wear heels for!! they ruin your feet quickly.
Crowds are crowds no matter where you go there are pushy people.
Karen
3 cheers for Red Shoes!
I don't do crowds well either, but we do these things for our children who will have fabulous memories, despite the pushy older kids...and adults! Your haircut looks darling and I am glad that you are doing a few things for yourself. The shoes however...well I am a klutz and I would break my leg if I took even one step in those. Besides, I'm afraid of heights. :) If they make you happy, then you should enjoy them with gusto!
You are sooooooo not alone about the crowd thing. People seem to be losing any common courtesy any more. It drives me crazy that some people feel they are so much more important than other people.
I have not liked crowds for years and agree with you -- used to take my little ones out and people do push them out of the way. As a result they don't like crowds either.
If it's not on TV I can pass -- usually read a good book or quilting, machine embroidery or just plain sewing too - thanks for letting me vent !)
Gorgeous shoes. :D No, not everyone likes those events - I'm yet another crowd-hater. It has to be either: a REALLY significant event, as in potentially historical, or something my kids are participating in or just DYING to go to for me to put up with the inanities. Totally understand your feelings. :)
I'm so jealous of how fast your hair grows...plus I think your hair looks good whatever you do. As far as crowds go, I think most adults are in agreement, but then we do a lot for our kids that we don't like to do. Love ya!
I detest crowds, and pushing kids out of the way makes me cranky; so I avoid parades & such at all costs. Love the heels & the hair. Rock on Momma!
And here I thought I was the only one who likes to avoid parade crowds. Glad to see I am not the only one. Haha
New hair and new shoes! What a way to lift the spirit!
We went to a parade last year and it was such a crazy crowd and the older kids pushed my little ones out of the way and used terrible language. We just left and I don't think we will be doing a parade for awhile now. It is sad. I am also not a shoe girl, but those are some super cute shoes! Now you are ready for a hot date with your hubby. :)
Oooh, shoe therapy! That's the best - and those are gorgeous!!!
I don't like crowds for the exact same reason! We had people crowd in on us twice in the last week...both time at outdoor concerts where we had gotten there very early and waited for hours. It was all I could do to contain myself.
I totally agree with you about the crowds. It's a bit like that over here too, when we are celebrating 17th of may, Norway's constitution day. Now my kids are older, and I don't need to worry about anyone getting lost in the crowds.
Those shoes looks sooo awesome ;o)
I am with you about the crowds... we had great seats and these people came, looked where everyone was and sat right in front... *sigh* so sad...peoples manners...
But on the other hand - love your hair and the kids are so cute!!
If it makes you feel better, I hate parades. My kids have never really been to one before since I refuse to go. If they want the experience, they can take their own kids one day!!!
I love your hair cut! Very cute! I definitely hear what you are saying about the crowds! I feel the same way.

So true..... it is almost scary how reclusive I could be! I'm in sales for a living, so I'm up up up all day. Once I am home, you can barely pay me to leave again! Btw....you have a beautiful family! ! !
Your sister is right! It is all about the shoe...especially the RED shoe :0)
Thought I was alone in losing my cool at parades. My husband says I'm a party pooper, but I just don't do parades very well. My youngest is very shy (get's it from me:)lol, and the eldest no longer has an interest in standing around waiting for some candy (when she could just go to the store and choose her own .....
Nice shoes.I don't wear heels anymore but those are CUTE.
