Oh the tedious tasks I love........

There is nothing like drawing a single line on 1 1/2 inch squares over and over again! I love every part of the process of making a quilt. Only 120 more squares to go!

It's time to start thinking about quilts for our Romania Quilt Charity.

Sarah contacted me with a wonderful idea on how we could get the quilts we need for our Charity trip in September. You can read all about it here - signs ups start April 10th. We are also doing a giveaway for the people that sign up and another giveaway once the quilts are completed. Please take the time to go over and read about it and sign up if you can. If you can't make a quilt now, we are always accepting donations. 100% of your donations go to help the kids in Romania with food, clothing and school supplies.

Also - thank you to everyone for the sweet comments about "Dahlia" - I am so crazy around here, so I haven't been able to keep up with my inbox to write everyone back and say thank you - I hope you will forgive me.

Unless absolutely necessary, and I stress AbsoLutely ... I skip the line drawing step ... whew ... good luck with those :)

I feel your pain. I just did the same thing on 600 squares. Lucky me gets to square up 1200 half-square triangle blocks...insert sarcasm...LOL.

Why are you drawing all those lines??? If you are using it to line up stitching to create 2 HSTs, all you have to do is stick a piece of painters tape in front of your needle and draw a line 1/4" to the right of your needle position. As you sew your two seams, just keep the point of the square lined up on the drawn line on the tape! Slick! Send me an e-mail if you need a photo!

I use Triangulations by Brenda Henning. Print, sew, remove the papers and have perfect HST's~ every time! :-) No more lines for me! lol

I always look forward to your quilt donations and have started on my own make some to send....I really believe what the two of you are doing is so amazing....It just takes one person (two) to change the world.....thanks!

Looks more like a "stitch and flip" project rather than a HST project ;) and like you I rather mark my lines to follow with my needle than risk not sewing in the correct area...

Here is a post from Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com that she posted recently with her tips on this. :) Take a look. Like so many - I've learned SEW much from Bonnie.

Love your new challenge for the charity quilts. Will there be a cut off for sign-ups? Are you limited to taking only 50 quilts each year?

Love from Texas! ~bonnie

I was just going to post the same link to Bonnie Hunter's blog that bingo~bonnie did! I have the Seamingly Accurate guide on my machine (http://quiltwoman.com/seamingly-accurate-seam-guide-notion.aspx) which does the same thing as Margo's comment, but I still draw all the lines - and the second for the bonus triangles - just to be as accurate as possible. A great little thing to do in front of the TV one evening! Anything to have the triumph of perfect points every single time!

I am so excited to make a quilt to send to Romania with you! I watched some of your videos of you delivering the quilts and the tears just flowed! I watched a program on tv MANY years ago where I saw the children/babies in Romania in the orphanages where they were just left to cry all the time because there weren't enough people to hold those little ones. I wish I could do that. Please hug those children as you give them the quilts. Wrap them in the quilts and then hug them! I will send a quilt or two so you can deliver my love to those little ones who need our love so much.

Some one told me the other day that they thought I was a bit crazy when I said I enjoyed all the piecing and then hand quilting. I told her she was right and that was why I enjoyed it. Those little teadious steps are my prozac.

Drawing all those lines is teadious but the end result will be worth it, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

I too love all the tiny little details that go into each quilt. Sometimes I just can't take doing one more HST, or one more anything, and do something else for awhile. But I still love it.

I have gone over to Confessions of a Fabric Addict and signed up to make a quilt. My daughter who is 16 is going to make a quilt also. You guys do a wonderful thing. It is amazing. I love all the smiles on the video.
