Will work or slave for fabric..............
Okay- So I mistakenly erased a super cute picture of my niece Brooke, but I have this one of her holding her prize for being my nanny (slave) for a day and a half. My mom and my sister with her five kids came over last week and stayed for a couple of days, we had a blast! My niece Brooke stayed longer and she was a great help. She watched the kids while I got a few things done, she even babysat for us while Clint and I went on a date. It was great!
For payment she just wanted fabric - that's my kind of girl! She also helped me sew on my Turtle Walk quilt that I am giving away to my soon (very soon) to be born nephew. I don't know if she had fun sewing with me breathing down her neck saying "1/4 inch and stay focused" the whole time. But she did awesome. She sews very well for a 13 year old and anyone that can put up with me and sewing (I am a bit of a control freak, or perfectionist - yeah that sounds better) than she will be an awesome piecer and quilter as she keeps going. Thanks Brooke! It was fun!
This is quilt made from the green, white, and brown fabric I told you about. I think it turned out perfectly. I absolutely love it! I keep looking at it. I tell you - there is nothing more fun than piecing and quilting a quilt. Especially when it's going to a brand new baby. I love it!
I have to thank my sister Jen for drawing up the turtle block, this is one of my favorite patterns. It's hard to find boy patterns sometimes and this one is great, especially with it done in the green and brown fabric.
Here's the back - I had an extra turtle block and I just couldn't help myself. I think the back is just as cute as the front! I think I will have to piece all of the backs of my quilts now.
You can get the Turtle Walk pattern here. We also got some new Moda pre-cuts in like "Salt Box Harvest" by Deb Strain and "Awesome" by Sandy Gervais. Don't forget to check out our "Deal of the Week."

I'll be your nanny for fabric! LOL! I LOVE the quilt... you're right, hard to find boy patterns, esp ones that arent owned by all the other boys! Great colors too!
Adorable! Turtle Walk is one of my favorite patterns of yours. It is so much fun seeing it made up in different colors. Too bad you can't keep the "nanny" around longer. She sounds like a super duper kid!

I too will be your nanny .....specially if you pay in fabric hehehehe....how gorgeous is your niece tho. I love that quilt too. the colours are so very cleverly put together. I Love it!
I love love love the pattern and the green fabric. I'd work for it too.
When you said "green, brown and white", I thought: "mneh -- anything Judi does is great, but those colors just don't rock me." Well, they rock me now! What a handsome quilt fo a new little man!!!
I am glad I am not nearby for "nanny duty" getting paid in fabric is just too tempting!
I'd take that fabric bag :D LOL!
I love that quilt, the quilting on it fantastic and the colors are awesome.
Wow, the turtles looking great in green-brown!
And the fabrics!!! I would come over from Austria babysitting for that prize :)
Hey, I will come for a whole month and keep your kids, and sew while you breath down my back teaching me.....truly....maybe you would let me use your longarm. Brooke is a lucky girl.....and you were on the end of the luck too....
I wanted you to know that I took your tote that I won to Texas...when I came back to Samoa it was loaded down so heavy....it took such abuse and lived to tell about it. Everyone commented on it...thanks you are a perfectionist.
This pattern is wonderful! I am on my 2nd turtle quilt of the year - maybe need to go for 3?
You are so right! it is hard to come up with male patterns and even putting some different colours together to make it look male too.
I love this. You had a great slave it seems.
Family is everything!
Absolutely adore the pattern of the turtle quilt! I agree that it's hard to find cute boy patterns for quilts. I think your niece picked out some adorable fabric too! I wonder if she'd let you share what she made from it?! I put my daughter in sewing classes for four years bz she used to love it. She started at age 8. She never touches a machine now bz she hates to cut out the fabric, lol! I keep telling her to use the rulers but her teacher never showed her that. I've offered to teach her but she'd rather be doing photography! At least I get great pictures of her kids and my kids that she takes, lol! I hope you niece keeps it up.
the back is cute - and yes once you start adding a left over block or scraps of the project you will always want to do a little something to the backing from now on! The unexpected! ;)
You must take this into the quilt store you bought the fabric from and show them before you gift this to your nephew... and hopefully on the day that lady is workin so she can see that they didn't get lost...
Does Brook have a plan for her fabrics yet? ;)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
How fun for Brooke, my girls are jealous- we would have to start at square one though, and purchase a sewing machine before they could go crazy with fabric!
Darling quilt!
This quilt is absolutely beautiful! I am the mother of a boy, now 23, but I know how hard it is to find good boy stuff. I have some left over brown/green Hawaiian prints and I think they would make a fun turtle shell.
Does "auntie" equate to nanny....Love you and the turtle quilt is so dang cute. I was wondering how you were going to work those greens!!!! :) (i couldn't resist!!!!!!!!!!) Woke up thinking about Iceberg.....
How fun is that!! Loving the turtle block!
I love. LOVe. LOVE this quilt. Whose expecting the little dude? I knew that Linda and you were preggo, but now I'm all sorts of confused. Anyways, I guess I just wanted to say that I would love this quilt if I was a boy OR a girl...that's just the way I roll though!
