My samples are now bedspreads!

I have had a lot of my samples sitting in my closet waiting for the next show and I am trying hard not get them dirty. So, when I looked at my samples and realized I have enough new stuff, I let the kids pick out the quilts they wanted for their beds. What good are quilts if they are never used, right? Lili has had my "Country Garden" on her bed for a while, but she was so excited when she was able to pick out a new one. She chose "Carrots and Peas." I had to clear out a lot of her stuffed animals to just show the quilt, but she loves her Mickey and Minnie and Raggedy Ann and Andy best, so I left them in the shot.

Grandma made Raggedy Ann and Andy for Lili, she just loves these. My mom (totally incredible) has made a set of these dolls for all of her granddaughters, all 15 of them, not to mention making Andy for her grandsons, 7 of them. She amazes me, and the kids are anxiously awaiting their Christmas jammies they get to open on Christmas Eve!

Micah chose "Sail Away" for his bed, he was so excited as we made the bed together. It's really fun to have my kids be excited about the quilts I have made. I hope they truly appreciate the love that has gone into making each quilt.

Here's Micah, I figured you might want to see his scar.

Love the Raggedy Ann and andy dolls...your mom does great work....easy to see where you got the talent from. Love the quilts as well....

It is funny, my son Nathan had a scar in about the same place...as your son grows, it will just grow up...and maybe into his hairline...my sons is alot higher now...and it not inbetween his eyes..

That is so sweet that they were thrilled to pick out new quilts to use. Boy are you right about being able to use quilts. So much better if you are able to use them. Micah looks so sweet and his boo boo is healing nicely.

My MIL does this for the grandkids when she gets enough afghans made and she lets them each pick out one. Each of my kids have three that she made. Your kids picked out some really fun ones for their rooms!

P.S. Love the Raggedy Ann and Andy too. So much work and love go into them (just like the work and love in your quilts)! Both dolls and quilts are destined to be heirlooms when they're older!

Micah is looking all patched up and pleased with his new quilt! I think your children will always appreciate your quilting. My kids all have bed quilts, lap quilts, and have had some say in the fabric used. When I presented my eldest with a quilt as he headed off to college as his dorm quilt - he refused to take it with him! He didn't want dorm life to ruin it! I thought that showed how he understood the value of a quilt! - even tho I assured him it was fine to take to college!

My Grandma did the same thing - made jammies for all of us grandkids each Christmas. Do you know I think I still have the majority of them... great tradition!

my grandmother, Momma Newt, made all of us 18 grandchildren and 23 greats RA&A's too! ;) I only wish I still had mine after all these years.

She gave the boys only Andy - but all of us girls got both :) Ann one year for Christmas and then Andy the next year :)

Merry Christmas! ~bonnie

The quilt is dark blue and red looks very attractive and lively ...I am sure your children loved it and another good part of it that it is not going to get dirty soon.

Good for you, getting those quilts onto your kiddos' beds. And of course they are excited about having them - I'm sure they see how much love you put into them and that those quilts are a part of you!
