Red, White & Quilted. Cover girl!

7
I had almost forgotten about two projects that I quilted last year until I received this book in the mail last week.  I was so excited to see the quilt I quilted on the cover of Linda Baxter Lasco's new book - Red, White & Quilted!  This is a really fun book where she shares a collection of antique quilts that have been re-made and quilted.  The pieced patterns are available for each quilt and there are 12 designs to choose from.  If you love two-color quilts, this book is for you!

This is the Uneven Nine Patch that is on the cover.  I was able to take some pictures of these quilts before I shipped them off to Linda. I had a lot of fun with the quilting on this quilt.  The request was to have more "modern" quilting.

This quilting actually went a lot faster for me than most of my quilts.  I didn't add as much detail as I normally do, but the end result is fabulous and fits the quilt perfectly.

The texture is just too fun!

It is so rare for me to leave squares untouched without quilting, but I think the balance of the quilting is perfect in this quilt.  It really works for this design.

Love.

In the book you find the antique quilt pictured on the left and the quilt I quilted on the right.  It is really fun to compare the two. I just love the thought of making quilts based off of antique quilts.

I quilted two quilts in the book, Goose in the Pond can be found on page 72.

The pictures I took of the quilt were at the wrong time of day, so I do not have as many pictures to share because you cannot really see the quilting.  But, I do hope you like the one picture that I think shows the quilting the best.

Well, the next couple of weeks are going to be an adventure!  I am headed to Australia for the AMQ Festival and I am excited to teach and meet so many wonderful people. Quilting has really given me so many wonderful opportunities that I didn't even know were possible.  I am so grateful and excited!  Australia here I come!!

Oh my god. I'm actually drooling. I am so in awe of your quilting. I keep trying and practicing everyday but I can't imagine ever being able to do this. I'll keep trying though. I love it!

Your work is exquisite. I've popped in for visits over the last few years and have always been delighted with your work, but now that I am learning to FMQ, I see your beautiful work through new eyes and I'm just floored with the magic you perform on these quilts. This one is certainly no exception. I'm proud to say I am now a follower. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
