I loved quilting this one............

This is a beautiful quilt by Connee of St. George. I love quilting for her because she allows me to just do what I want and that is always fun. I have had this one for a little bit longer than I wanted to because I was so sick, so I hope she will forgive me on that part when she sees the quilt herself.

I struggled for a little bit to figure out what to quilt in the sashing, but I am pleased with the cross-hatch that I did. It really separates the sashing from the block and the feathers in the border.

I quilted my small swirl filler for the insides of the block. I wanted the star block pieces to really stand out. I stitched in the ditch around the stars and filled in the background fabric with the swirls. I love it!!!

This is my favorite feather section! When I do free-hand feathering I try to play with it and have fun. I try to have it be as uniform as possible, but sometimes when you start a quilt and get to the end, you forget exactly what you did at the beginning, that is why you can see that this feather and the one below are a little bit different. But I think they are both beautiful in their own right!

I'm blushing......

Check out this sweet post about me that Nedra of Cactus Needle posted. What a sweet friend. She is the best. Thank you Nedra!!!

I finished a quilt for Emily, you can see it here. I loved how this one turned out. I have been busy and good news - I love quilting again. (I'm feeling a ton better, now I am just getting bigger). So, time to catch up. I can't wait to show you what I have been working on, it's gorgeous.

I bought some brown, white, and green fabric for a surprise baby quilt, not mine, but I can't wait to show you when I am all finished. Oh, and what is so funny about me picking out fabric at a quilt store is because of my age, some of the quilt shop workers don't think I know anything...... I am not kidding, it's funny when I think about it because I know exactly what fabric I want, I know exactly what I am going to make with it and still I had a lady say, "Those fabrics will get lost when you put them together because they are too similar." I then told her that they would be separate blocks and that I had the background (already cut by her) and that I think they would work fine. Crazy, but true! I just want to say sometimes - "I know what I am doing!!" Well, for the most part I do.

Oh, and to kick off the start of this day I was told that I take all the fun out of everything..... I guess when you won't let your kids play with a mattress as a slide then technically you do take all the fun out of everything.

Have a great day!! From the "Fun taker!"

Kay's Quilt

This was an awesome quilt done by Kay of Nevada. The needle turn applique is absolutely perfect, this entire quilt was done by hand, awesome! I have a hard time quilting on perfect quilts because there is a lot of pressure that comes with it. I hope she likes it!

We are keeping busy here at the Green Fairy Quilts household, I have a few new patterns to show off soon. We also have some layer cakes on sale for our deal of the week. Check them out here!

Some great news!!!

The HMQS show was last week and I had a blast! I wasn't going to plan on a "phone call" for the awards ceremony so I wouldn't get my hopes up. But, early Wednesday morning I got a call telling me to be sure to come to the Thursday night ceremony! That can only mean one thing, I must have placed or got an honorable mention for my quilt. I checked out the competition in my category "Novelty Custom" and pretty much convinced myself that I was heading for an honorable mention. Well, the ceremony came, my mom was with me and we watched and listened as they went through each category. They came to "novelty custom" and went through 3rd, then 2nd -my quilt still wasn't mentioned - and then all in a blur I heard "1st goes to "Serenity" by Judi Madsen!" Hooray! It was so exciting! I got my blue ribbon and a cash prize to boot. What fun! So, here I am with my quilt and ribbon, still in shock, but pleasantly surprised.

All that hard work paid off.

Thanks to everyone who came and said hi and thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday. I also wanted to let everyone know some exciting news! It has to do with the fact that I have been a bum blogger lately and that I have been sick for the past 12 weeks. I mean, sick. I haven't ever been this sick before, especially with a pregnancy, so that's why I have been so lame lately. I am starting to feel better now and hope to get caught up soon, I apologize to those of you waiting for a quilt to be finished. I will get them done as soon as possible. So - baby number four will be welcomed to our little family sometime in winter. I was trying to hide it longer, but since it's number four the belly has already started bulging, and I thought I owed you all an explanation for some lame blogging lately! Well, wish me luck as we add one more thing to our crazy life and have your fingers crossed for a girl!!!!
