Home Sweet Home!

This is the view I grew up with and I tell you, I don't think anything can beat the beauty of Lone Peak in the Rocky Mountains. I love the mountains and I miss them! There are mountains here in St. George, but not quite like this.

For some reason this trip back home was a little hard for me because I just wanted to stay! This is my parents yard, they have 2 acres of land and my Dad has made it gorgeous with flowers and trees, I wish this was my yard now. 2 acres? Does anyone sell that much land any more?

The reason for the trip home was a small "Spring Market" at Quilt Etc. (a quilt shop) in Sandy, Utah. There were several designers there and we had a blast selling our patterns. It was too much fun getting to know Amanda, Karen and Monica, Mary, and Jodi Warner. What talented ladies!

So, back home, I am enjoying the smaller mountains, but realizing that it is gorgeous here, but in a different way and I do love it. This is an older design, but I got my sample back so here you go: "Carrots and Peas," one of my favorite patterns.

Of course I have to leave some pictures of my recent quilting adventures. I hadn't done shadowing until these two quilts, I think I like it!

So, thanks for reading! I will be better about posting, it's just been one of those weeks. And for my blog readers I am offering buy 1 pattern get 1 free until my next post. Just tell me which one you want during checkout. Have a great day!

First of all I have to apologize because I have had to cut this last giveaway short because I have decided to go to a small show at the last minute and will be out of town for the next few days. So I am announcing the winner of my 12 patterns today.

The winner of my 12 patterns is:

Nancy of Stitched with Prayer

Nancy, email me your address and tell me which 12 patterns you would like and I will get them right out to you.

So, we did this giveaway to see which patterns are your (the public) favorites. The top three favorites are:

1. Strippin' Time
2. Butterfly Mania
3. Craisy Daisy

(thanks to your feedback and customer orders we have made a top 12 customer favorites page on our website "here.")

Because you like these three so much I am going to offer them for 3 days at $7.95 each. Plus we are offering "buy 3 patterns get 1 free." And, if you buy a pattern from our website and enter the code "pattern4me" you won't have to pay shipping. Pretty neat deal if you ask me. (International orders require paid shipping)

Just keeping busy.

I am trying really hard to be organized so that there is time enough in the day for kids, husband, designing and quilting. Does anyone know how to create more time? I am in need of it.

This is one of my customer's quilts. I loved how it turned out.

Another quilt, and I think it was one of my personal favorites to quilt. The quilting design came together so nicely. Don't laugh too hard at the feathers in the picture below, this quilt was my first attempt at doing feathers. I think I kind of like it, and I am not so scared to do them anymore.

Do I even need to explain why my back aches all the time?

I can't complain too much. Since I have been quilting so much I have developed some arm muscle and I kind of like it.

Confession.....................

I watch, or rather listen to Sense and Sensibility every time I quilt. Which is all the time. I figure I have watched this show over 20 times in the last few weeks and I never get sick of it. Clint can't believe that I watch it so much, but I find each time I watch it, I pick up on every phrase that I have missed before. I can almost quote the whole movie, with out any help. The reason I am telling you this is because I have thought a lot about the ending and how it can help me in my life. If you aren't familiar with the show I will tell you the end--- Elinor finds out that Edward didn't marry Lucy Steele and she starts bawling (love that part); then Marianne, Margaret, and Mrs. Dashwood go outside. Margaret climbs into the tree house and tells them that Edward is kneeling down and Marianne and Mrs. Dashwood hug. You can see the pure joy in their faces and the happiness that they have for their daughter and sister. Then they get married, yeah! I am a true romantic at heart. But as I have watched the show a ton, I have come to understand even more how important it is to be happy for each other. I have found, through my professional and personal life that jealousy and anger get in the way of relationships and being happy for other peoples successes. So I am going to try hard to always be happy for someone else who is succeeding and in the end, I hope that I can be a success as well.

So, on that note I am happy to announce that my sister (Jen) is a huge success and I am happy for her. She is the most amazing, most talented bow lady out there! I am not just saying that because she's my sister, her bows are incredible! She is having a matching bow and dress giveaway. Believe me the dresses are so cute, my little Lili has several of the dresses from her website and she wears her bows exclusively. So go on over there, and say hi! Tell Jen I sent you and enter the giveaway. Surely you know of a little girl that would love a matching dress and bow. Oh, and if you can find a picture of Jen anywhere, let me know. She refuses to be photographed for some strange reason. Just imagine me with a much cuter chin, and that's what she looks like.

Good luck! I hope one of you win.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

First of all, thank you to everyone who wished me a "Happy Birthday" last week. I had a great day, I worked a booth all day, but it was so fun. I got to meet a lot of fun people, a couple of you bloggers (what a treat) and I got an awesome birthday gift, besides my husband spoiling me.

Here's a shot of my booth, finishing touches on the last day.

So, I had the opportunity to go the awards ceremony and "Joe the Quilter" was the entertainment. He was interesting (funny at times), but I think they need to remember to get to the awards sooner than later, everyone was there to see what they got!

You can see me on the left of the screen walking up to get my 2nd place ribbon for the edge to edge competition. My quilt "Grace" took 2nd place! What a birthday present.

Here I am with my quilt and ribbon, it was great. The only crazy thing is that I spent about 3 hours quilting this quilt and threw this quilt into the competition at the last minute and got a second place. The other quilt I entered was 30 hours of quilting and a lot more work and I didn't get anything. I talked to the lady who got "Best of Show," she spent 500 hours on her quilt, so I won't complain. One day, when I have more time (ya right) I want to be as good and as patient as her.
Well, back to the reality of real life, it was fun to have a break away and enjoy talking to quilters and getting to know other designers. I got to spend the days with my Mom, she was there the whole time and I was so grateful, she kept me laughing.
Thanks to Clint for spoiling me for my birthday and Mother's Day. I hope everyone had a good one. Take care! I am back, hurray!

New Patterns!

Well, this one isn't brand new, but it is my "Strippin' Time" pattern using a different Jelly Roll this time. I made this quilt top in four hours using the "Sweet" by Urban Chicks jelly roll and will have it showing in my booth at the HMQS show this weekend.

This is my brand new pattern called "Sunshine." I love it, it makes me so happy. I used fabric from Soiree by Lila Tueller for Moda Fabrics. Good news, I have it available as a kit, bad news, I am taking it to the quilt show, so if you want it--get it now!

This is my other new pattern called "Frame This." I can't take total credit for this one. Clint, my husband designed this quilt and I love it. I only can take credit for figuring, piecing, quilting, binding and pattern writing. This pattern is so great because it uses a honey bun and a panel or large patterned fabric. I used the Wonderland Fabric Line by Mo Mo for Moda.

Oh, this one I made a while ago, but never got the pattern written. It's called "Dragonfly Fields." It's fun because it is little dragonfly blocks.

So, here are my new patterns. I hope you like making them as much as I do. Wish me luck at the show, I am going to need it! Hopefully I can post how it's going during the week. If not, I will post as soon as I get home on Monday! Have a great week.

And the winner is.....but first some quilting pictures.

I've been up to my eyeballs in customer quilts! This was a cute little table runner and the circle loops look really great with the polka dots in the fabric.

I need to come up with a name for this, but "pointy flower with swirls" works for me now. This is a picture of the back of the quilt. My customer wanted to see the quilting, what pressure!

This one is my "flower and leaf." It went really well with the flowers in the fabrics.

This was a fun quilt. I traced around the butterfly wings and did big circle stippling throughout the quilt. I liked how it turned out.

This quilt was fun, but it took a long time. Each star and horseshoe was a template that I traced and then I quilted it. The borders on this quilt were really fun too, I will show that at a different time.

Oh, I can't forget this little guy! It's his birthday today and I can't believe he is 2 already!

So, drum roll please! The winner of the gift certificate is Mary from Quilt Hollow. I couldn't help but laugh at her comments and the fact that she came to make me laugh a second and third time. The winner of my special gift for the most referrals is Holee from Bea's Hive.

Holee- please email me your address and Mary just email me!

I want to thank all of you who commented and made me laugh and cry. I wish I could make all of you winners, but then I would be broke. Don't worry though, I will keep up the giveaways, so stay tuned. Oh, and amongst all the craziness of never ending customer quilts, being a wife and mom and trying to keep up this blog, I have managed to piece three quilts in the last couple weeks and write 5 new patterns. I will be posting about my new patterns next week. I can't wait to show you all. Have a simply marvelous weekend!
