Quick Look.......

Dragonflies

Okay - here's a little sneak peek at what I am working on. I have a confession to make, I have a quilting "problem." Are you ready for this? Well, I don't know how to judge the time it will take me to quilt a quilt. I am horrible at it. No matter what I do I think I can get things done faster than I really can. It's not a good problem because I planned on having this quilt done last week and now I am going onto this week. And, the balancing act between wife, mom, housekeeper and quilter is sometimes a little crazy. So, that just means I don't get as much sleep as I crave. But, in the meantime - some serious quilting is going on and I am happy with this quilt so far. I will show you the whole quilt as soon as I finish - let's hope it's sooner than later.

  12. Oh my gosh Judi, I adore dragonflies so I am truly in love with that quilt. It is beautiful. What a talent you have! Just ask yourself, does any artist know how long it is going to take them to create something wonderful? I don't think so! Hugs...

  13. Flipping 'eck - that's wonderful! I admire you taking the time to create something wonderful rather than sticking to your timetable at the expense of the quilt but can see how it creates a juggling problem...maybe you need to charge more to take into account the extra time you need? You have such a talent!

  26. You are the quilting queen! Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt...when you're done, your family comes first, you taught me that.

  27. Amazing as usual! I way underestimate time for handwork too, but it doesn't seem to matter. I still love it!

So do you do designs like this completely freehand, or do you draw on the quilt with chalk or something first? Either way it's amazing!

  29. Once again, I have to say I want to be just like you when I grow up! That is amazing quilting! The dragonflies are lovely - do you sketch them out on the quilt before you do them, or are they totally freehand?

And why don't you try adding a week on to your quilting time estimate - that way if you finish as fast as you hope you will, you'll have a spare week to play with the kids or work on some other great project!

  41. I have that problem too! I give an estimate when people ask me when a quilt will be done, and I try to tell them a week later than I am hoping. If you figure it out let me know.
