Giveaway winner!

Sorry it's taken me a bit to announce the winner of my giveaway, but I have finally stolen a few moments, (I should be quilting) to congratulate Joyzelle for winning the Happy Camper jelly roll. Thank you to everyone for entering my giveaway and thank you so much for all the kind comments. Joyzelle - be sure to email your address to me at judi@greenfairyquilts.com and I will get your jelly roll sent out!

I am really excited about my quilt that I am trying frantically to finish by Wednesday, I figure I have already spent about 50 hours quilting and I am about 3/4 done. I can't wait to show you when it is all finished.

And finally-my little girl is 5! She is growing up so fast and I confess I am not excited about sending her to school in the fall. I will miss her so much. Grandma made her this cute dress. It was the best gift for a 5 year old little princess (and believe me she tells me every day that she is a princess). She was so excited to wear her dress to church on Sunday! Thanks Mom!

There is nothing better than a dress that twirls! She absolutely loves it!

Giveaway!!!!!

First off, thanks to everyone who voted me best long arm quilter here! Check it out, what an honor! I never dreamed that I would be thought of as a long arm quilter, let alone a good one since I started this whole business writing my patterns. Which, I am still doing, just trying to make the time in between quilts. And, since I am working on this quilt, and I won't be sharing pictures until it is completely done, I decided it might be fun to do a giveaway. That way I can get away from blogging for a few days and hopefully you won't feel too bad. So, what's up for grabs? This "Happy Campers" jelly roll by American Jane for Moda Fabrics. If you haven't checked out our shop in a while, you need to because we have added more jelly rolls, layer cakes, honey buns, charm packs, turnovers and even some dessert rolls.
So, hop on over to our shop and tell us your favorite product, then mention it in the comments and you will be entered to win the "Happy Campers" jelly roll.

Oh, and if you want more entries, lets say 5 more, just blog about my giveaway - it will go to the weekend or so, depending on how much I get done on my quilt! Wish me luck!

Fun little quilt!

This is a quilt pieced by Marlene and she did a beautiful job, pay attention to the cute applique and embroidery work. What a work of art. This quilt is a pattern by Leanne Beasley of Australia
I had a lot of fun quilting this one! It took me a while because it has been a crazy week, but I will be getting this quilt on the frames tonight. I can't wait!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

If you are prone to gag with gross food, you may not want to look!

So, it's St. Patricks Day, big whoop in my view! I am not the best at celebrating every holiday, but Clint insisted that it would be fun to have green food for the kids because it is St.Patricks Day, after all his mother always did it for him!
Anyway, I have to admit that I am not the best cook, in fact I am terrible! I admit I make macaroni and cheese from a box and green beans from a can, I feel so bad for my kids! So, for your viewing pleasure or displeasure here's our green lunch. I think I want to gag!

Lili was really excited about it, she was amazed the mac and cheese tasted the same! Go food coloring!

Micah was not as thrilled, but with some convincing from Lili he gave in and ate all that was on his plate!

Jonah didn't care, he's just my chubby baby that will eat almost anything!
Forgive me for the nasty food pictures, but I hope you have a great St. Patricks Day, whether or not you celebrate it!

Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda............

This is Sharon's quilt! She is an excellent piecer, the seams are so straight and precise. It was fun to work on this quilt.

I tried to balance out the quilting by not quilting everything. I left the one inch borders plain and did a lot of stitch-in-the-ditch.

I played a litte more with the feathers on this border and I really liked how they turned out.

Okay, so here's the shoulda, woulda, coulda.... I was really enjoying the straightness of the quilt and thought it would be great to have the lines in the sashing, plus, when I was planning on quilting I measured the borders and the sashings and I had an even two inches all around except for the outer sashings. Anyway, as I was finishing the last of the sashings I realized that I could have continued the diagonal border into the sashings by just offsetting it a little bit! Urrrrggghhhhh! I think I would have liked it better, but it's okay. I will get over it. Something about me always thinks of what I could have done to make each quilt a little better.

There were nine blocks, so I just alternated the blocks by filling in the background with swirls on the applique blocks and quilting a connecting curved line on the others.

A shot of the diamond borders, I love it!

I still can't get enough of feathers. They just don't get old to me.

Something of my own.....

So, I drew out this design several months ago, using some graph paper, (which is how I start all of my designs) and some colored pencils. I have waited so long to put this quilt together, knowing it would be difficult and I finally made the time this week.

I don't know how I feel about a three color design and how plain it looks now, but I am planning on making the quilt stand out with the quilting. I can't wait because this will be my very own quilt! (And if I like it enough I just might enter it into some shows).

So, here it is, it's not perfect at all! I will have some "quilting that out" parts that I hope won't be noticed. After working for an hour and a half on one mitered corner I finally gave in and said "that will have to do!" But, overall I love it and proud that I was able to put it together. I had to start with the center block and build out, since I didn't have the measurements. I used all six yards of the cream fabric and four yards of the green, I lost count on the purple. There were a lot of unpicking and redoing, but I am glad to say that it is finally done. Now to the quilting next week, now that's going to take a long time!

Okay- so I have been gone! We took a vacation and it was crazy, wonderful and I needed it bad. Bad news, I forgot my phone! I worried about it during the week, but realized I couldn't do anything about it. I just about have everyone called back! We went to Indio, California for a few days, then we went to Anaheim for a fun filled week at Disneyland. It wasn't our first trip to Disneyland. If you know Clint's family, you could call them a little obsessed with Disneyland, but it's all good. We are officially season pass holders, so this won't be the last trip. Here are some of the high-lights of my trip, granted I took way more pictures and video, but that could get boring!

My little Jonah! He cracks me up, still on the binki, but loving the game of tennis! Could there be a little Andre in our family?

I had a fight with a rose bush and lost. Clint insisted on taking a picture!

The fam at Huntington Beach! The kids loved it. I am just hoping to go to the beach some day when it is warm! I was a little nervous because the tide was way low and the Hawaiian tsunami warning was just the day before. Thankfully, no problems!

My Micah!

Lili- Always in the mood for a picture!

Jonah's chubby feet! I swear, he is the chubbiest little kid! I munch on him daily as any mother would.

At Disneyland the tulips and hyacinths were out! Hyacinths are my absolute favorite flower, they smell incredible and they are so beautiful! So, I had to take a picture and I have the smell logged up in my memory!

Clint and Lili in the cars at Autopia! The kids really loved this ride because they got to drive the cars themselves.

Me with Lili and Micah on the teacups. They aren't that bad if you don't turn the wheel.

I was in line for the Haunted Mansion and couldn't resist taking a picture of the iron work. This would be some awesome quilting! Everywhere I went I could see images for quilts, it was awesome.

I couldn't believe it when Emily showed up! What a fun surprise. She was in line behind us at the Haunted Mansion, so it was great seeing her! We posed in front of Splash Mountain, my favorite ride at Disneyland!

These are the grizzly bears in California Adventure! The kids had fun seeing the characters and giving them hugs.

The best parade was in California Adventure, it was the Pixar parade and they had all the characters and had bubbles floating in the air. Micah loved seeing Lightning McQueen, he loves that car and calls him "Weeteen."

Thanks for letting me share some of our vacation! I have a lot to do, so hopefully will be posting more pictures soon. I am just going to have to figure out how to do more in the day or night and learn how to stay up later than 12:00 am!
