Excitement, Amazement, Yahooooo!!!!

Holy Cow! I am so excited, as you can see in my face (I was going to do my crazy grin, but I just don't think anyone but family is ready for that) anyway, we had an awesome day here in the Green Fairy Quilts household. My darling husband has worked so hard to get our patterns into one particular company, a company that I completely love and get all my fabric from. Can you guess it? Well, today Moda Fabrics a.k.a United Notions has picked up some of our patterns! Hooray! I am still in the super excited mode, I have been running around and jumping around the house like a super crazy excited person, I even mopped the floor, now that's excitement!
It may not be a huge deal to some of you, but it has been one of my goals since Clint and I started working full time together, so it's like the dream is coming true! I couldn't help but share the news with all of you! Oh, and if that wasn't enough excitement for one day I just found out that one of my new designs, (still on the drawing board) will be featured in a magazine in the Spring of 2010! More details will follow as soon as I can tell you everything!
What a day! Life is good.

I wanted to share my excitement with you all by doing a little giveaway. To celebrate my patterns getting into Moda I am going to give a lucky winner one pattern and one Honeybun of their choice from my website.

All you have to do is look on my website and tell me which pattern and which honeybun you would want if you win. Bonus points if you make laugh!

Good luck, you have until Monday night, I will post the winner on Tuesday.

How exciting for you and your hubby. I still think you should have shown us the uber excited face you save for family, after all we ARE your blog family! I make that face you have in the picture just seeing all the fabric behind you! Looks like a fat kids candy store to me!

Strip this Quilt patter and Sultry by Basic Grey Honey Bun

Congratulations on the turn of fortune and thank you for engaging us to celebrate with you.

I like the Butterfly Mania Quilt Pattern - an update to my first applique butterfly quilt (oh yes, my eldest 6yo niece has inherited our love for butterflies).

Too many lines but this time will be Moda Honey Bun - Neptune by Tula Pink. Very similar to the Bistro line I have made my parents quilt.

Read all together I thought THIS was hilarious - "I even mopped the floor, now that's excitement!
It may not be a huge deal to some of you, but it has been one of my goals since Clint and I started working full time together, so it's like the dream is coming true!" - Seriously, mopping your floor has been a goal since you first started working together?? LOL! I'll bet it really needed a good mopping! :o
So what does this mean that Moda will have your patterns? They will be selling them? They will be used on their site? Just to be associated with them is FANTASTIC! Congrats on that AND the magazine feature. :D
I would choose Strip This Quilt and Wonderland.

I pick the "Crazy Daisy" pattern and the "Swanky" honey bun. They are all delicious, wasn't easy to decide! Have a great weekend! *elaine*

I love your strip this quilt pattern and the Sultry honeybun. Hmmm.....sultry, honeybun, strip.....I see a pattern.

Carla said...

I got lost! Well, that's nothing new for me. I went on a search to see what the fabrics looked like in Aviary. Ended up somewhere in space and had to click the back button a dozen time. Didn't occur to me to just get out and go back in. Well, after all that my heart's desire is Dragonfly Fields and Objects of Desire.

Treasuresofjoy said...

Congratulations! Amen to mopping the floor.
I am wanting to make my daughter a quilt and LOVE the Summers End pattern and would love the Soiree Honey Bun by Lila Tueller for Moda fabric. Love that picture of you with all of that fabric.
Now if we could just get the laundry done.

Quilt Hollow said...

OK...you made ME LAUGH!! Seriously....mopping the floor when your excited?! I'm trying not to get too terribly X-rated here but let me ask Clint this.....How often are those floors getting mopped big boy?!
Dang girl....you've hit the jackpot and made it big time! I'm very happy to have gotten to know you earlier this year...don't forget us little people.
Now what I would LOVE for you to send me is a Legacy honey bun and I would love Clint's Frame It pattern because I've got some prints that I just can't cut up!
It's Saturday night...will she be mopping? It's all you big boy! Oh I just kill myself! Hope your laughing too.

The ricrac quilt pattern would be my choice and the sultry honeybun to go along with it.

It is awesome that your husband has worked so hard to further your work. So glad that working together is doing well for you.

PattiCakes said...

I need another project like I need a hole in the head, but your uncontained excitement is contagious! Housework an wait.

I'd love the Crazy Daisy pattern. My God daughter finally became pregnant after years of trying and infertility treatments, and that Crazy Daisy quilt would be perfect for little Grace Isabelle when she arrives in December. It would be perfect for her nursery in April Cornell's Sping Magic!!

By the way, what's a
"mop"?

onlymehere said...

This is happy news about your patterns! I'm excited for you. If I happen by some wild insane chance win this give-away I'd like Spring Magic by April Cornell for the honey bun. I've lusted after this fabric ever since my friend made a quilt out of it! I haven't been able to track it down yet and here it is hiding on your site in a honey bun! For the pattern I'd like the Checkered Tote pattern. My daughter is going back to school soon and since she left her's on the back of the trunk and drove off with it there (later to be found flat as road kill in the middle of the road with tire tracks on top of it and tar melted to the other side)she's in desperate need of a new one! I love the stack of Moda Jelly Rolls, etc. behind you. The room looks like heaven to me! Cindy

Dancing Diagnals and the Neptune honey bun for my choices. (do this first because I'll forget what I chose if I write first).

Congratulations to you! How exciting! I would dearly love to be able to work in my 'hobby' and eek out a living not for one, but for two workers! Wow! How great to work with hubby and that he shares your dream...

It's nice to see where you work, but man, sort of mean too! Makes us all drool just to see what is behind you in the picture above! I should be so fortunate! I'd never leave my sewing room with shelves stacked with that stuff!

karenfae said...

I like the square chase pattern. I think it is so great that you are succeeding in your dream and that moda is picking up some of your pattens. Also is it so nice that you and your husband are able to work together in something that you love doing.

I've been eying your "Rick the Rack" pattern for awhile--soo cute and useful! And I am still so in love with Neptune, by Tula Pink, that I would have to choose that for my Honey Bun.

Anne said...

Well done, Judi! You've worked hard at this and it's nice to be recognized for your accomplishments.

I'd have to flip a coin between Butterfly Mania and Turtle Walk. Don't know why I like turtle quilts so much, but I do. And Neptune would seem to be a fitting fabric choice to go with it.

Once again, BRAVO!!

I love the Square Chase Quilt Pattern and the Neptune Honey Bun! :)

Congrats on getting some of your patterns accepted. :) They are all awesome!

Gene Black said...

I would have to choose the Frame This Quilt Pattern. It looks fun and easy. Oh, and it is the only one that actually USES a honeybun, honey! (I am southern so I can call ya honey right? your husband won't come hit me will he?) Hmmmm... Replace that "honey" with a Miss Judy. (I'm a mite bit skeered.)
For the Honey Bun, well the truth is I have been lusting after the Neptune by Tula Pink. Cause I love the ocean, it is blue after all.

Congratulations. This is such a wonderful thing to have happen in your life. I know you BOTH worked hard at it.

Gene Black said...

Yikes, now I am embarrassed. I put "Miss Judy" when I really REALLY shoulda put "Mrs. Judi" cause you are married AND well I shoulda spelled it correctly if I want to win! and I do.

Isn't that the most exciting thing!!!!!! Yay for you!

I think I would for sure pick the Butterfly Fields patterns because I love it... even though I'm not a butterfly lover and I'd pick the Aviary honeybun, cuz I have to have more of that soft pastel Moda fabric that my stash is full of that doesn't match *anything* in my house at all!!!! Someday I'll have a room decorated in pastel pinks and greens and then I'll be all ready for it!! LOL!

Thanks for the chance!

Wow! Congratulations on getting picked up by Moda. That is AWESOME! If I had to pick, I would pick the Turtle walk pattern and the Neptune honeybun. Now there is a story behind this (and it is my attempt to make you laugh.) I have a dear friend who was making an applique FROG quilt as a surprise for another friend. Well, the whole time she was working on it, I kept asking her about the TURTLE quilt she was making. Even when she would correct me, I still called it a turtle! So the name of the quilt became...A FROG named Turtle!

Congratulations! Getting into Moda is a really big thing and you have every right to be excited. The pattern I like is Frame This. I have a kamono pannel that I would love to have in a quilt but nothing seems to work. The Sultry honey bun would be perfect and then all I would have to do is figure out what to put in the 14 little frames. Too bad I don't have asian grandchildren.

Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you!

If my result from getting excited was to start cleaning my house, I think my husband would probably be surprising me every single day. Unfortunately when I get excited I usually end up starting some new project which results in MORE housework!!

I love all your patterns, but my favorite (at this glance) is Carrots and Peas. I find it ironic since I don't care for either. haha! It's harder to pick a fabric pack that is my "favorite" but I think I'll go with the Hello Betty Retro by Chloe's Closet. Totally out of character for me so it would be a nice change from my usual stuff.

Congratulations again! I can't wait to see what you've got in the works!

You Know you are a Quilter If........
There's more Fabric in the House than Food
"Fat Quarters" are not the heaviest part of your body
Your ironing board is always set up but you never iron clothes
You think of your job as an interruption of your quilting time
You pet Fabric
People are always picking threads off you
You can measure a scant 1/4 by eye
"Featherweight" Doesn't mean Boxer
Your "UFO's" are not from outer space
You clean up your sewing room & they think you are leaving

Congratulations! I am so happy for you! One of my dreams is to be picked up by Moda someday. If I were to win, I would choose the Aviary by three sisters honey bun and i think your Checkered Cherries is super cute. It's too early in the morning to try to come up with something clever to make you laugh. I know, just think of Fanny From Sense and Sensability. I always laugh at her.

Kelly Jackson said...

Ok, I'm back....but not to get another chance to win. But I just wanted to be sure you were smiling and still flying high since your good news. You are excited about being with MODA but it is really the case that MODA should be dancing that you agreed to allow them to make a profit off your hard work and designs. It his their privilage to have your name associated with them....don't forget that.

Laughter time: When going to school in A2 I saw some men working on the side of the street between the sidewalk and road. I think there must have been a water leak or something. So, I'm walking down the sidewalk and I pass a man who is chest deep in the ground standing there. I walked past....backed up 10 feet....walked past again....then I stated with a blank face....you know youre just diggin yourself a hole? He laughed and smiled and said, "You got a point there." Silly I know....but it provided some lightheartedness to a difficult job.

Smiles,

How sweet of you to share your love and gifts with us. My choices would be:

Quilted Memories Quilt Pattern
Moda Honey Bun - Wonderland by Momo

Congratulations on getting your new patterns accepted! That is awesome to do what you love fulltime.

Keep up the good work!

Congratulations! Found you by way of Quilt Hollow.

I love the Checkered Cherry pattern, but rather than take the "oh, cherry, oh" line (which would probably make sense), I would rather have the Baskets of Flowers honeybun. (In my defense, Mary Englebreit loves cherries!)

Congatulations! My favorite pattern is "Rick the Rack." My favorite honeybun is "Baskets of Flowers."

Hope this makes you laugh:

After the Sunday worship service, a mother asked her very young daughter what she’d learned. The youngster responded, “Don't be scared--you'll get your quilt.” The surprised mom was puzzled. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by to visit. When the girl’s mother mentioned her daughter’s amusing summation of the sermon, the pastor thought for a moment and concluded that the child’s words were her version of “Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming.”

well, that is pretty cool hookin' up with Moda!! I'd definitely chose the Strippin' Time pattern and the Arcadia by Sanae Honey Bun.
I do smile to myself whenever I read the heading on the left "Get your Honey Buns here". Almost like you have another shop on the side selling husbands!! Well, maybe that's not laughing material but it does make me smile. (And for 14.95...what a steal of deal!!!!) :)

I would pick "strip this quilt" and wonderland by mo mo. That fabric line has got to be one of my all time favorites.

You Know you are a Quilter when....
1. Your child spills juice on a shirt and instead of looking for stain remover, you are thinking, Hmmmm, that pink would make a really pretty heart in my patchwork project...

2. UFO does NOT mean Unidentified Flying Object.

3. WIP is something you need to do, not what a lion tamer uses.

4. You have a stash and it isn't illegal.

5. You go to get a tiny piece of fabric, and a whole stack falls on the floor.

6. You come to the realization that fabric breeds. You KNOW you've never seen some of that stuff in there before.

7. You buy your own Christmas presents from the fabric shop and give them to DH to put under the tree. (You know you are an online quilter if you know what DH means!!)

8. You find yourself drawing the bathroom tile pattern on a piece of toilet tissue in a public restroom.

9. You think thread is a fashion accessory.

10. You have purchased more projects than you can do in your lifetime, and yet you continue to look for more. (I've myself have SABLE disease......Stash acquired beyond life expectancy)

11. All your walls and beds are bare because you give everything you make away.

12. Before a major holiday or event, you can be seen either up at midnight, or in the car on the way to the event, sewing the last few stitches in.

13. You have given unfinished gifts.

And the final way to tell that you are a true quilter:

14. Fabric Fondling does not sound obscene.

The honeybun that I luv is Neptune and the pattern I would choose would be Frame This II as I have some wonderful "sea" large prints to go with it! I hope that the "fairy" sparkles down to pull my name! Thanks for the opportunity!

This is my first time visiting your blog...got here through Quilt Hollow. Congrats on your patterns getting into Moda! I had not visited your website before today either...very nice. So much to look at. I like the Baskets of Flowers Honey Bun and the Butterfly Mania pattern. I don't have a blog but if I did I would certainly mention you on it. :)

Congrats on such wonderful news! Enjoyed looking at your website/store. Great prices on Moda fabrics! I loved your pattern Summer's End. Ironically, I go back to school this week so my Summer is at it's Eng. I also liked the Swanky honeybun. Not really my normal selection, but had some fun in it.

Take care!

Hi,
what grat news, congrats to you! And what a generous give away. I love th Frame This II. pattern and cannot really choose of the honey buns, they are all gorgeous. Maybe 'Oh Cherry oh' is the best.
We just returned from our trip to Transylvania, Romania this evening and I thought of you there. I hope you'll have a lovely trip there, just as we had one. I saw a quilt hanging in an ancient church which were given them by their English sister city, it was very touching.

Congratulations! That's WONDERFUL news! And if you're in need of more spaces to mop? Email me--I've got just the thing!

Okay, I think my favorite pattern--like your husband--is the Sail Away pattern. I'm a sucker for nautical and patriotic. Honey Buns? Maybe Swanky by Chez Moi, but you have several that are in bright, happy colors and those are appealing to me right now, after the Great Quilt Catastrophy of 2009 (see my blog for the whole, sad story).

I love so many, but Grandma's Trellis is perfect for a gardener like me, and a little Object of Desire honeybun to put on those finishing touches would be perfect. :o)

Congratulations on your super news!!! That is a WONDERFUL accomplishment...to have patterns picked up by MODA...golly...gee......TERRIFIC! Anyway....I'd choose the Fun With Triangles February Fun pattern and would love the Neptune honey bun if I would be lucky enough to win your giveaway. I just realized...you announced this happy news on July 31....the very day a tree came down in a storm and landed on our house. (You can see photos and read about it on my blog.) I sure am glad not EVERYBODY had a bad day on July 31!!! (Gee...does that qualify me for bonus points?? LOL)

Judi, A HUGE congratulations on you growing (rapidly I might add) success!!! Your patterns being picked up by a MAJOR company, and one of your quilts being in a magazine...whoa girl, don't all those long days, nights and backaches just suddenly seem worth it? I am so very happy for you and I have the feeling you are just getting started. I think your dream quilting studio is starting to look like it is not so very far away, am I right? Okay, now on a more serious note...you know the 'word verification' we always have to type in for the comment to be posted? Well, the word I got today was "quarch"...I was just wondering, is "quarch" possibly a version of spray starch for quilters? Like..."Be sure to spray your blocks with our wonderful Quilters Quarch to reduce block shrinkage and distortion." Sounds good to me!!! Again congratulations and Good luck to everyone on this great give away.
OH! By the way, my favorite Honeybun would have to be "Sultry" and I adore your new Checkered Tote Pattern. Thanks so much for the chance to win something wonderful. And don't forget to use that Quarch when your all stitching away **wink**

I'd like to try the Frame This II pattern with the Momo Wonderland fabric.

rattie4fun said...

Congrats!! This is well deserved, we can tell you have worked hard for it. Your patterns are all so lovely!!

The one that caught my eye is Froggie Goes a Courtin quilt pattern. It's so darn appealing. Cute name, nice compostion. Yep, I would enjoy making it. And the honeybun that I fell in love with is Sulty.

Can you image if I told my husband to watch the mail - cause I have honeybuns coming? Wouldn't he be disappointed when he found out they are pre-cut fabric! LOL!! Not that honeybun pastries throught the mail would be worth eating. (They would be kind of stale) Which I have to tell you, my mother serves the family stale honebuns everytime we go to visit her. It's happened so many times it's become a famliy joke. I love my Mom. Life is fun with her.
